Schedule WhatsApp Messages Without Internet or Wi-Fi
No Wi-Fi or data? Chatmaid Schedule saves WhatsApp messages on your phone and uploads them when you reconnect. They send only if they sync before send time.

You can, in the Chatmaid Schedule app for iPhone and Android: write and save a scheduled WhatsApp message with no Wi-Fi or mobile data. The app keeps the schedule on your phone. The next time the app is open and online, it uploads the schedule to Chatmaid's cloud. From then on, the cloud sends it at the time you picked, from your own WhatsApp number.
One rule matters more than the rest: the schedule has to reach the cloud before its send time. A one-time schedule that is still only on your phone when its time comes is not sent, not even late.
Already scheduled and worried about losing signal at send time? Once a schedule is in the cloud, it sends with your phone offline or off; see Will WhatsApp messages send or deliver if your phone is off?
What works in the app when you have no internet
When your phone has been without a connection for about three seconds, the Home tab in Chatmaid Schedule switches to an Offline Mode screen. It shows the actions that still work and how many schedules are waiting to sync. The History and More tabs show a short notice that you are offline and looking at your last-synced data. The Schedule tab saves to your phone instead of the cloud.
On a weak signal the app may still think it is online and fail to confirm. Turn on airplane mode, wait a few seconds for the Offline Mode screen, and schedule from there.
Works offline:
- Creating and saving new schedules, one-time or recurring (daily, weekly or monthly)
- Picking recipients: contacts from your phone's address book, unsaved numbers you type in, and the WhatsApp groups the app loaded the last time it was online
- Writing the message with bold, italic and strikethrough, inserting one of your saved templates, and adding photos, videos, documents or a voice note you record in the app
- Viewing your schedules and Message History as they were at the last sync, read-only
Needs internet:
- Uploading (syncing) saved schedules to the cloud, and sending anything
- Linking or reconnecting your WhatsApp number
- Signing in for the first time
- Editing or deleting schedules that are already in the cloud, and creating or editing templates
If you were signed in before you lost signal, the app remembers your session and opens normally offline.
How to schedule a WhatsApp message without internet
- Get ready while you still have a connection. Update the app, sign in, and check that Home shows your WhatsApp as connected; an upload is refused if it isn't. If you plan to message a group, open the Groups list once while online, so the app has a copy to show offline.
- Open Chatmaid Schedule with no connection. On the Offline Mode screen, tap Create offline schedule. The Schedule tab works too: with no connection, it saves to your phone on its own.
- Choose recipients. Pick phone contacts, groups, or type an unsaved number.
- Write the message. Attachments are copied to your phone right away and upload later, during sync.
- Pick the timing. Choose One-time or Recurring, then a time comfortably after you expect to be back online.
- Save. Instead of the usual WhatsApp connection check, the confirm step shows a "Saved on this device" note. Tap Save offline schedule. You land on the Offline Schedules screen, where the new item shows Pending sync.
What happens when you reconnect
Sync runs only while the app is open. It starts when the app launches, when you switch back to it, and when the connection returns while it is on screen. Nothing syncs while the app is closed, so after you reconnect, open Chatmaid Schedule once. Until everything has synced, the Home screen shows a card with the number of schedules waiting.
For each pending schedule, the app uploads the attachments, creates the schedule in the cloud, then deletes the copy on your phone. You will see "Offline schedules synced" with a count. From then on the message sits in Message History like any other scheduled message, and your phone can be off, out of battery or offline when it sends.
You can also tap Sync on the Offline Schedules screen. If the connection drops partway, the remaining schedules stay pending and try again next time. Each schedule carries its own ID, so a retried upload does not create the same schedule twice. If your sign-in has expired, the upload stops and your schedules stay on the phone; sign in again with the same account and they sync.
What each status means
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pending sync | Saved on your phone, not uploaded yet | Open the app once you are online |
| Syncing | Upload in progress | Wait a moment |
| Time passed | The send time, or a recurring schedule's stop date, passed before the upload | Delete it and create it again with a later time |
| Failed, or a reason such as "Not connected. Please login first." | Chatmaid's server refused the upload | If WhatsApp is disconnected, reconnect it from Home, then tap Sync. If you hit the daily limit, tap Sync after it resets, while the send time is still ahead. Otherwise delete it and create it again. |
Automatic sync starts only when something is Pending sync, so tap Sync after you deal with the reason.
What offline mode can't do
- Two checks wait until the upload. Saving offline skips the WhatsApp connection check and the daily sending limit. Both run when the schedule uploads. If Chatmaid is not linked to your WhatsApp at that moment, the schedule shows Failed with "Not connected. Please login first." The daily limit counts on the day the schedule uploads, not the day you saved it. After the upload, Chatmaid still has to be linked at the send time for the message to go out.
- Missed times are not caught up. If you are still offline at the send time, a one-time schedule shows Time passed at the next sync and is not sent. A recurring one skips the times it missed and starts from the next one after it syncs.
- Offline schedules can't be edited. Delete one from the Offline Schedules screen and create it again. Once it has synced, you can open and edit it in Message History like any scheduled message.
- Cached data ages out. Groups, templates and history shown offline come from the last time the app was online. The app keeps that copy for up to a week, and an app update clears it.
- Logging out deletes unsynced schedules. Logging out removes offline schedules and their attachments from your phone. Sync first.
Example: scheduling on a flight
You are on a nine-hour flight on Sunday with no Wi-Fi. You schedule a note to your team for Monday at 9:00, a weekly Friday reminder to a client group, and a voice note for your sister's birthday on Wednesday. All three show Pending sync.
You land Sunday evening and open the app in the taxi. All three upload, and from then on they send from the cloud at their times. The same flow works on an underground commute or abroad before you get a local SIM.
The weekly reminder repeats every Friday until its stop date, if you set one, or until you cancel it. For more on repeating sends, see how to schedule recurring WhatsApp messages.
Do I need a paid plan for offline mode?
No separate plan. Offline mode is part of the Chatmaid Schedule app on iPhone and Android, so it works during the 7-day free trial (every feature, no credit card) and on Premium, which is $2.79 a month after the trial. If you don't see the Offline Mode screen when you lose signal, update the app from the App Store or Google Play. The app links to your existing WhatsApp number the way WhatsApp Web does, so your contacts see messages from you as usual. Plans are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I schedule WhatsApp messages without internet?
Yes, in the Chatmaid Schedule app. With no connection, the app saves the schedule on your phone and uploads it to Chatmaid's cloud the next time it is open and online.
Will my message send if I'm offline when it's due?
Only if it synced first. A synced schedule sends from Chatmaid's cloud with your phone offline or switched off (see Will WhatsApp messages send or deliver if your phone is off?). A one-time schedule still on your phone shows Time passed and is not sent; delete it and schedule it again.
Do I need to open the app after I reconnect?
Yes. Sync runs when the app launches, when you switch back to it, or when the connection returns while it is on screen. It does not run while the app is closed.
Can I attach photos, videos or voice notes offline?
Yes. Attachments are copied to your phone when you add them and upload during sync, together with the schedule.
Does WhatsApp have scheduled messages of its own?
Only in beta, as of October 2026. Some Android beta testers have had it since 12 October, and some iPhone testers on TestFlight since 22 October (WABetaInfo). It is not in the regular app, it schedules at most two weeks ahead, and it has no repeat option. The details are in is WhatsApp's scheduler available yet?
